Classroom/Setting: Elementary students love listening to stories and this project makes audiobooks accessible for ALL students. The Learning Resource Center (LRC) is the library of books and media for a school and the students.
Wonderbook is a book which connects to an audio device, so students can follow along with the book while they listen to a fluent reader. The book can be read by a student independently, or read to when connected with the audio device. "Audiobooks can be the key to unlock a child's love of reading." (Emily Best, National Literacy Trust)
Audiobooks provide a fluent reader's voice, for students to check out, listen, and read at home.
The audio device provides the option to listen through the device's speaker, or headphones.
The device can be preprogrammed with questions to be asked of the student, improving better comprehension/literacy, and creating a deeper dialogue.
To recognize a word as it's read, is to open up the incredible world of reading through stories, which broadens the student's vocabulary, and accelerates their mental growth.
